How to Connect Parents with a Class Link

Web, iOS, Android

From the Web

Teachers can now invite parents to connect to their class using a class link. The class link can be provided by the owner of a class to all parents who should be connected with a student in the class. When you share this link with parents they will be able to use the link to request to connect to a student in your class. These connections will need to be approved by the class owner before parents will be connected to a child in the class.

Please Note: At this time, you must be a verified teacher at a school in order to access a class link. Click here to find out how to join a school.

Here’s how to access a class link to share with parents on the ClassDojo website:

  1. Open your class
  2. Click on “Invite parents”
  3. Click “Class invites” in the window which pops up Class_link-1.jpg
  4. Click “Copy link” to copy the link to your clipboard Class_link-2.jpg

You can now send the link via email to any parents you would like connected to your class or post the link on a class website or newsletter for all parents to access.

When parents use the link they will be prompted to create an account or login to an existing account. They will then enter their student’s name to request to connect to a particular student in your class. Here’s what it looks like on the parent side when using the link:

The connection to the student will then show pending on the parent side until the teacher approves the request.

The class owner will receive a notification about the connection request and can approve or deny the request. Here’s how:

  1. Click on the bell icon in your class to access the notification and then click on the pending connection request notification. Class_link-4.jpg
  2. In the window which pops up, you will see the name of the student the parent is requesting to connect with and the email address that the parent’s account is under. Click “Approve” to connect the parent to your class and click “Deny” to decline the request. Class_link-5.jpg

If the parent should be connected to a different student, you can also click “Choose another student” to scroll through the students in each class you own before selecting "Approve".

If a parent ends up connected to the wrong student, you can always disconnect the parent by following the steps in this tutorial.
